Tiago Monteiro gets a big thumbs up from ex-boss

In 2004 Tiago Monteiro was runner up in the Nissan world series, driving one of Trevor Carlin’s cars. In a series of limited quotes, Sportmotores.com states that Carlin was not at all surprised by the strength of Tiago’s drives for Jordan in 2005.

Carlin's actual words have had to be translated from Portuguese (the native language of Sportmotores.com), so may not be the actual words he said in English, however the intent remains perfectly clear.

"Tiago has done a fantastic job, only failed to finish one race, and did everything he could despite the car. I am very proud of what Tiago has achieved, which is everything I could have hoped for."

The ex-Jordan team boss is well aware of what is necessary for a driver to succeed in the demanding world of Formula One motor sport due his own experience in other disciplines. Carlin believes that Tiago has the ability to compete strongly under race conditions, but what he needs is a competitive car to show his true potential. "It (Formula One) is very competitive," he said. "Every driver is at the absolute limit. The more competitive the car, the better the results, and more World Championship points scored."
