Hungarian GP: It's raining at the Hungaroring!

An early morning conversation with our source at Midland F1 Racing in Hungary revealed that had been raining at the circuit. So how will the team do in a wet race?

The UK TV coverage compared the wet tyre offerings from both tyre companies. Bridgestone offer an intermediate and a full wet race tyre, both of which have been proved under race conditions. Michelin have taken a different route offering a wet tyre with differing tread patterns at the front and the rear. Whilst it looks cool and seems a sound idea, it has yet to be proved under full race conditions.

Add to that the fact that Midland have done the majority of their development mileage since the season started at the less than dry climes of Silverstone in the UK, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that MF1 have an advantage today. The team agree.

"Bridgestone extreme wets traditionally have an advantage over their Michelin counterparts," we were told this morning.

"And let's not forget Tiago's brilliant point at Spa last season. Come to think of it, both drivers have the tactile awareness necessary to excel in the rain. So let's hope it stays wet!"

As I sign off to post this story I'm seeing on the UK coverage that it has stopped raining, although our source has confirmed that the sky is still very grey and that the rain has stopped and started all morning.
