Rest & Family time for Nick Heidfeld

Recently, Nick Heidfeld contested two Grands Prix within a week, in Canada and the USA. Having completed this extensive programme, the BMW Sauber F1 Team driver is now looking forward to spending more time with his family.

The past weeks have been extremely busy for the BMW Sauber F1 Team, with Jacques Villeneuve and Nick entering the North American Formula One rounds, the Canadian and US Grands Prix. These back-to-back events provide the teams with very little time to transport the equipment from one venue to the next and to set everything up at the new venue in time.

Compared to the usual two-week rhythm, the overseas races therefore required an extraordinary team effort. For the drivers, however, the extensive programme didn't represent a problem. "For me as a driver there is no big difference," says Nick, "since we usually go testing between the races. The only situation I don't like is being kept apart from my family for several weeks."

Following the US Grand Prix, Nick is now enjoying some extra time to relax. As he suffered from slight neck pain following his accident in the race at Indianapolis, Jacques will now be conducting the Jerez testing programme in Nick's place. On 14th July, however, both Jacques and Nick will be back on the track to compete in the free practice sessions for the French Grand Prix.
