Renault F1 Team has announced the appointment of Rob White as Technical Director (Engine). Formerly Chief Engineer at Cosworth, White assumed control of all technical activities at Viry-Châtillon effective 1 January 2004, and will work alongside Deputy Managing Director Dudot at the French site.

"We are delighted to welcome an engineer of Rob's calibre to the team at Viry," commented Managing Director Flavio Briatore. "His appointment is another key step as we build towards challenging for the World Championship."

The Renault F1 Team saw the departure of engine guru Jean Jacques His at the middle of last season when the team decided to go for a more traditional architectured engine for the 2004 season following the change of regulations to the one engine per weekend.
