Ecclestone wanted Alonso in podium at Monaco!

Formula 1 Supremo, Bernie Ecclestone, was delighted to see Montoya wining yesterday and young gun Kimi Raikkonen finishing second. Third place was Michael Shumacher who had won the last three races leading to the Monaco GP.

Ecclestone would have been happier to see Alonso on the podium though as this would have meant a young drivers podium:

"The only thing that would have been better, would have been if Alonso had been third," said Ecclestone. "We'd have had three young lions on the podium which would have been even better."

Ecclestone has already expressed his admiration on the young Spanish driver. Very recently he was quite vocal on the future of Alonso:

“Alonso has all the qualities, a good team and I have no doubt that in a not so distant future he will win races and will be World Champion.” Ecclestone said after the Spanish GP in which Alonso finished 2nd behind Michael Schumacher.
