Alonso backs Renault engine!

Fernando Alonso is confident of maintaining his good form the rest of the season and believes his engine is better of what many people thinks.

In a press conference prior to an exhibition in the streets of Madrid that congregated close to 75.000 people the Spaniard declared that his engine is better than people may have leaded to think.

"There has been some critics to the engine, but I think is better than what people say. Maybe we hear people being critic, but we are fighting with the best teams. We are in front of Williams-BMW on the Constructors Championship and I am 3rd currently on the Drivers Championship."


He sees, however, little chance of winning a Grand Prix this year:

"I do not think it is possible, I do not think we are ready to win a Grand Prix yet. We have achieved more than initially expected. Our objective has to be to keep scoring points and if possible another podium. To win would be a surprise. In Monaco? I wish!"

Alonso has had a great start of the season with 3 podiums in 5 races. He has been the only driver, bar Ralf Schumacher, who has scored in every race.

"My top 3 races have been Imola, Brazil and Barcelona. In Imola I had a great race in terms of driving. The best has Barcelona, to race at home and all the fans that came to support."
