Renault tests heavily!

The Renault F1 team has been conducting a two-day test at the British circuit of Silverstone in England. During the first day Allan drove 350 km, 68 laps, in which he tested car set-up, tires and suspension development.

Also McNish tested a new development engine that showed in Allan’s words a relevant improvement in performance. There is no secret that engine is what Renault is now lacking.

F1-Live.com informed that Renault F1 has recruited around 15 engineers coming from TWR Group, including former Cosworth old employee John Hilton in order to strength its race engine division.

Yesterday April 24th Allan concentrated on engine mapping and in validating the positive suspension results of the previous day. The late rain in the afternoon allowed the team to do some wet tire testing for Michelin. In total the driver did 35 laps around the circuit.

The best time of the tests was achieved in this second day of testing with a best time of 1.22.878.

The Renault F1 team has used now 10% of their entire 20 days limited testing under the Heathrow Agreement and Renault F1 Technical Director, Mike Gacoyne, was quite positive on the programme.
