Schumacher suggests Renault performance was a fluke. In an interview with Autosport Schumacher suggested that Renaults performance at the weekend was beyond what he expected of them and was down to others not finishing and under performing.

In the interview Schumacher was quoted to have said "I think if you take all of the other factors into consideration, for example: Montoya losing his rear wing, Ralf starting from 17th, Coulthard stopping, what happened with my race... I guess you could be right in saying all of us could have finished in front of the two Renaults." This is just wrong and takes away from the performance of the Renault F1 team over the weekend. If this was true why did Alonso and Trulli out perform Schumacher in qualifying? They were on the same strategy a 2 stop just slightly out of sync. Yes okay down the straights the Renaults get blitzed by the big 3 and some of the other teams but around the corners they are number one! Lets show this old dog Schumacher who's the new kids on the block! |
