Luck changing for GB Superstock rider Howie

At a packed Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday, local rider Howie Mainwaring was out to prove that his luck was changing somewhat, and continued to perform well in the British Superstock championship.

This followed on from the bitter sweet result at Thruxton in the previous round - where he won the race but was demoted down the order after an infringement was declared with regards to another rider.

After a wet morning warm up session, the rain held off and the wind kept the track dry, and Howie was to run consistently throughout the race to earn a very hard fought third position.

Howie said after the race, “That feels good and, although I could have ridden harder, I was out there to gain some much needed points after the disappointment of the Thruxton round. It was windy out there, and the track kept dry, but it was a constant battle to keep the bike on the racing line - never mind keeping off the riders behind me. Points were my main aim, and I didn’t want to lose grip on the tyres, so I ran as consistently as I could to maintain a good points finish.

“Things are coming together nicely with the Superstock bike, and the Krystal Racing Space Air machine ran faultlessly - which is more than can be said of my BSB Cup bikes, where I am suffering continuous electrical problems - which will be sorted out before the next round at Mondello Park in Southern Ireland. I can’t wait for it to come, as I will be on the mark next time out, where I can get those much needed points.”
