British Masters Motocross, Foxhill preview

O’Neal Yamaha’s Brad Anderson aims to make it three wins in as many rounds of the British Masters Motocross series at Foxhill, on 26 June. Anderson has won both rounds so far, at Culham and Hawkstone, and aims to complete his hat-trick at the testing former grand prix venue near Swindon, Wiltshire.

Anderson leads the Pro 125cc championship standings by eleven points as he aims to defend the title he won last year. “I’m really happy to be leading the series after the first two rounds,” said Anderson. “I want to make it three wins at Foxhill. It’s always a big challenge racing at Foxhill, but I am determined to defend the title.”

Anderson leads the Molson Kawasaki of rising young star Tommy Searle by eleven points, with Innovate Honda’s Danny Smyth thirteen points further back heading into Foxhill. Innovate Honda’s Wayne Smith will be bidding to make up ground from fifth in the series after a mechanical problem at Hawkstone hit his title hopes.

Anderson’s O’Neal Yamaha team-mate Glen Phillips is well placed to take control in the Pro Open class at Foxhill. Phillips lies second in the series going into Foxhill, just two points behind the Honda of Mark Eastwood. With Eastwood not expected to contest the whole series, Phillips is in the right place to take over at the top at Foxhill, and mount a serious challenge for double title joy for the O’Neal Yamaha team.

Jordan Rose, on the Meredith TM, and Innovate Honda’s Alex Rach, lie third and fourth respectively, and are both serious contenders for honours at Foxhill. Rach will be looking to build on the race win he had at Hawkstone, where he won a terrific battle with Eastwood.

There will be a full programme of pro, amateur and youth racing at round three at Foxhill, with the action getting under way at 9am on 25th and 26th June. The youth and amateur riders race on both Saturday and Sunday, and the pro classes join the action on the Sunday.
