Neil Hodgson wins in AMA Superbike at Road America

Neil Hodgson broke into the top rankings when he won the AMA (United States) Superbike race at the Road America track on Saturday, 4th of June. Although Neil only qualified in eighth position, he made the most of the wet conditions as other riders fell.

Even though the race was eventually stopped due to the conditions, after only ten laps, this made his win even more impressive, as he was in the lead by an incredible 27 seconds.

Neil said, “I’m really pleased to win, because Road America is a difficult race. I took a lot of risks, and was aquaplaning up the front straight. When the adrenaline is in your blood, you actually enjoy riding like that. Maybe not so much after you get off the bike after the race.”

Neil’s win takes him into the record books yet again, as this win makes him the first rider of the modern era to win races in AMA Superbike, British Superbike and World Superbike.

The next round now takes place at Laguna Seca, on 8th-10th of July, 2005, where Neil has ridden previously in the WSBK series, and I am sure he will be going all out for another win.
