Ryuichi Kiyonari to undergo an MRI scan

Ryuichi Kiyonari will be undergoing an MRI scan to see if he is fit enough to race at the next round at Oulton Park this bank holiday weekend after undergoing an horrific crash at Mallory Park last weekend.

In an horrendous weekend of racing every race was red flagged on more than one occasion, and the championship leader was to suffer the most horrendous crash when he failed to brake early enough whilst leading and over shooting Edwina’s Chicane - going onto the grass verge and toppling end over end and hitting the tyre wall severely.

He will be attending the MRI scanner along with Steve Plater who was also knocked out. The Kiyo Kid will also be seen by a Neurosurgeon prior to racing to see if he has sustained any lasting damage from his head injury.

Kiyo was knocked unconscious and has also sustained a chipped bone in his right leg, and even though he will be wearing a removable cast and will be on crutches he hopes to continue his championship title chase.

Tommy Hill, who high-sided at the bus stop chicane, is believed to be OK but has sustained a nasty gash on his arm - but hopefully he will be at Oulton Park, as will Karl Harris who had a coming together with Gregorio Lavilla at Gerrards.
