Maria Costello to get Guinness World Record Award

Maria Costello, the fastest woman motorcycle racer in the United Kingdom, will be presented with her official Guinness World Record Certificate on Saturday, the 19th of March.

Maria entered the record books at the 2004 Isle of Man TT when she recorded the fastest top speed for a female around the infamous 37¾-mile course. Riding a Suzuki 750K2, Maria reached 114.73mph in the Production 1000 class.

Fitness First - of Poyntz Lane, Dallington, Northampton, NN5 7AS - have kindly agreed to host the presentation as part of their continued support of the Northamptonshire born racer. Motorcycle commentator, Martin Bennett, will be on hand to host the event, where there will be a chance to chat to Maria about her achievements so far, and what she will be doing for 2005. The event, which is being sponsored by Bering and Custard Creative, will also feature an auction of signed kit from Maria.

“I’m really looking forward to the night and receiving my Guinness World Record. I love the TT, and I have many great memories from the Island. It will also be nice to have a chance to meet and chat with my fans, that have been so supportive,” said Maria. “I’m confident that I can go back to the TT and beat my record, and I’m sure we’ll have another party to celebrate.”

Anyone who has always wanted to ride around the TT course can now try it on the night! In virtual reality on the new PlayStation2 TT Superbikes game. The game is yet to hit the shops, and is coming to the event courtesy of Jester, the producers of the game.

For a small donation to Riders for Health, everyone can try out their skills around the infamous course, and pick from a range of great TT riders, including the fastest female – Maria Costello - who is featured on the game.

A special guest will present Maria with her certificate, which will be announced shortly. Limited tickets are available for £5.00 (including a buffet), and can be booked now.
