After two very successful rounds of the Maxxis Motard Masters series, the promoters have reluctantly taken the difficult decision to cancel round three of the series. Entries for round three are massively down on rounds one and two, with a shortfall of over 70 entries at the closing date.

“We have absolutely no idea why we have had such a poor response for round three. The first two rounds of the series were very well received by riders, spectators and the media alike. Why we suddenly have no interest is beyond us. Although the current weather conditions are a little unpredictable, the truly awful conditions at round two didn’t deter anyone, so we are discounting that as a factor.

“Obviously, the event’s finances are affected by such a lack of entries but, more importantly, the unique ‘tournament style’ event format simply doesn’t work with so few riders,” said Tony Brock.

“It’s not all bad news, however. Lots of the innovations of the Maxxis Motard Masters series, the new class structures, youth Supermoto and excellent TV coverage have all been taken on board by the organisers of the 2005 British Supermoto Championship, who intend to utilise these and enhance them further,” added Brock.

The small number of riders who did enter for round three will receive a full refund of their entry fee from the AMCA within the next few days.
