Steve Plater for South African Endurance races

Steve Plater, reportedly having signed with the Sendo Kawasaki team for an assault on the British Superbike series, is jetting off to the sunshine and will be taking part in two Endurance races in South Africa during December.

Riding a BMW Boxer, Plater will be partnering a pair of South African riders in the Endurance races at Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Steve has really suffered this year with injuries not entirely of his own making - being knocked off on at least 2 occasions with the following injuries sustained: kidney stones; damaged ankle; broken toe; dislocated shoulder ; no feeling in his right hand after badly breaking his wrist; and further breaking his wrist at the last outing at Castle Combe!

Steve said he was sick of hospitals and was hoping he had reached a turning point, and he was looking forward to doing some dirt bike riding and snow boarding whilst he was away from the British racing scene. Steve has certainly suffered this year during the BSB series - with the long list of injuries noted above. When I spoke to him at Donington Park during the Moto1 event he was looking fit and said he was looking forward to getting some quality time to himself during the winter period.
