Top race aces drafted into Moto1 team

Former Grand Prix star Donnie McLeod and multi Isle of Man TT winner Jim Moodie have joined the organisational team for Moto1, at Donington Park on 30-31 October. The talented pair will be in the thick of the non-stop action at Moto1, assisting Events Director Robbie Allan with a number of tasks.

“Jim Moodie has a lot of experience in motorcycle sport, and it is that experience we are looking to draw on to ensure the smooth running of Moto1,” explains Allan. He continues: “Donnie’s key task will be centred around the judging of the final round of the World Stunt Riding Championship.”

And the World Stunt Riding Championship continues to grab the imagination, with 28 riders from 14 countries now confirmed to head into battle for a final, spectacular showdown. McLeod, a former 250cc, 350cc and 500cc Grand Prix rider, believes: “The World Stunt Riding entry for Moto1 is probably the best ever assembled. The competition will be fierce and the winner will be deserved.”

The final of the World Stunt action takes place at 12.30pm on Sunday 31st October.

Hard-riding Moodie swaps his racing kit for the official’s jacket, and is excited at the prospect of being involved with Britain’s biggest bikesport extravaganza. “I think the whole Moto1 concept is fantastic,” says Moodie. “It has everything for the bikesport fan, and offers a couple of fun days out for the family too. The Moto1 action itself will be very, very competitive.”

Talented young British Supersport riders Craig Jones, Cal Crutchlow and Tom Sykes are all set for a private battle in Moto1 after the three confirmed their entries earlier this week.

Outside events specialists SGB Eventlink will supply exhibition and logistics facilities for Moto1.

Flyin’ Ryan Griffiths has completed his preparations as the Honda man heads for a World Record Long Jump attempt at Moto1 with a 260-feet leap.

The Moto1 action at Donington Park will run from 9am to 4.30pm each day.

SKY Sports has confirmed an opening broadcast date and time for the Moto1 review of Wednesday 17th November at 5pm.

Zany stunt team, the ‘World Famous’ Purple Helmets, will close the Moto1 proceedings each day with a lap of the Donington Park circuit in their own inimitable style!

More than £1.4m worth of machinery will be in show in a hectic, 18-race programme of Classic Motorcycle Racing Club races during the Moto1 event.
