Stuart Easton heading for Moto1 ‘fun’

Stuart Easton believes the Moto1 challenge at Donington Park on 30-31 October will be the perfect end to the season, and the young Scot is confident of his chances of becoming the first champion.

“I know it’s going to be a load of fun,” says Easton. “But you can’t stop bike racers being competitive so I’m intrigued to see how much effort some of the riders are going to put in to try and win the £6000 first prize.”

Easton won the British Supersport championship in 2002, and has just re-discovered his form on the Lloyds Ducati British Supersport machine after a demanding start to 2004 in the Superbike class. The 21-year-old is also a formidable motocross rider, regularly finishing in the top three of the British schoolboy championships before switching to road racing.

“I still ride motocross a lot, and I did quite a few supermoto races last winter, so I’m confident I’ll be able to compete at Moto1,” adds Easton. “Getting through the weekend without any silly little crashes will be a result in itself, and could have a bearing on who lifts the title.”

The first ever Moto1 spectacular involves 24 of Britain’s leading motorcycle sportsmen doing battle during an action-packed two days of competition over four disciplines; road racing, motocross, supermoto and trials.

Moto1 action will run from 9am to 4.30pm each day. Additional attractions include the final round of the World Stunt Riding championship, a World Long Jump record attempt, freestyle motocross demonstrations, youth trials and motocross, a National Supermoto, two days of road races, a Classic Parade, the ‘world famous’ Purple Helmets and an extensive trade exhibition.

Event Managing Director Robbie Allan comments: “Having Stuart Easton as a part of Moto1 is a massive boost for us. He’s a talented rider and very good with the fans. And I’ll be surprised if he’s not challenging for the title come October 30-31.”
