James Ellison to race Czech MotoGP with Harris WCM

Jentin Racing rider James Ellison is to make his MotoGP début against the worlds best at this weekend’s Czech Grand Prix with Harris WCM.

The Stroud based British Superbike, team who are currently leading the Superbike Cup, were approached by Harris WCM last week as they were seeking a temporary replacement for injured rider Chris Burns. With the Czech Grand Prix event fitting between the team’s commitments in British Superbike, an agreement was quickly reached to release Ellison for his MotoGP début.

Jentin Racing and Ellison are enjoying a stellar season, with highlights including a stunning performance at the Brands Hatch World Superbike round, where the team finished fifth and sixth and with a ninth in Superpole, making James the best performing Brit. In the UK the team have a stranglehold on the Superbike Cup for non-factory teams, and have had a number of top ten outright finishes.

Team Principal Jon Poole said that he was delighted that Ellison’s performances on the team’s Yamaha YZF-R1 had attracted the attention of the MotoGP teams. “Jentin Racing and James are having a fantastic season, both in the UK and in World Superbikes on the Yamaha. We are absolutely delighted that we have been able to give him an opportunity to show his class and attract the attention of teams such as Harris WCM. We wish him every success this weekend.”

Jentin Racing and Ellison will be making a return to the British Superbike Championship to defend their Superbike Cup lead on the August bank holiday weekend at Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire.
