Adam Jenkinson manages ‘Save of the Day’ at Croft

20-year-old Manchester based rider Adam Jenkinson had the ‘Save of the Year’ at the tenth round of the Think! British Superbike series at the weekend. Jenkinson, who is slowly making a recovery from a broken pelvis that he sustained in a crash at Knockhill six weeks ago, impressed everyone at Croft.

Jenkinson has been suffering recently. The three times early season race winner has come to blows in the recent meetings and, although he still lies in third place in the championship, he has seen his points advantage slip away from him.

Jenkinson was lying in second place, behind Jon-Boy Lee, when his back wheel locked and tried to throw him over the handlebars. He was adamant that he was not going to crash again, and fought with his Yamaha R6 in a desperate attempt to stop it before hitting the barrier. Hanging off the side of the bike and on his knees, the youngster eventually brought the bike to a halt. With the engine still running he jumped back on like nothing had happened and rejoined the pack way down in eighteenth place. A brave and valiant effort saw the talented ex Mini-Moto champion fight his was through the pack to take an amazing fifth place.
