Husky Supermoto, Rowrah Stadium results

Husky Sport rider Christian Iddon was exceedingly fast and on the pace at the sixth round of the British ACU Supermoto series at the weekend. Setting the Superpole fastest lap times for both the 450 and Open classes, Iddon felt comfortable with the bike and the super fast track at Rowrah, Cumbria.

In the first 450 race both Iddon and KTM’s Matt Winstanley got a great start and were locked in a tight battle until the chequered flag dropped. Winstanley finally managed to get the better of Iddon crossing the line less than a second in front of the young 19-year-old.

The tables turned for the second race and it was Iddon that got the holeshot again, tied up in a close-fought affair with Winstanley and Honda’s Leighton Haigh, who fancied joining in the fun. It was Iddon who managed to grasp the second win and filled him with confidence as he headed into the Open Class races.

Iddon got a flyer in the first Open Class event and was happily leading the chasing pack. KTM’s Ady Smith was trying to make ground on the talented Husqvarna rider but was unable to make up the ground. Over the twenty laps Iddon managed to pull a two-second lead from Smith, and Winstanley followed home in third.

For the second leg of the Open Class races Winstanley managed to make the break and began to pull a healthy lead over Iddon. Pushing hard throughout the race, Iddon was determined to make up the time, but as the flag came out Winstanley took a comfortable win from Iddon and Smith.

Fellow Husqvarna rider Dave McKee gained sixth and seventh in the 450 races, and seventh and eleventh in the Open Class races.

Speaking with Christian, he said, “This was the results I was aiming for this weekend. Obviously I would have liked to have taken the four wins, but I’m pretty satisfied with this. Davey Tougher seemed to struggle this weekend, which enabled me to close in on some points in the overall championship standings. It was a great weekend and for once everything ran right for me.”
