Jarno Trulli: Should I stay or should I go?

Toyota’s Jarno Trulli is faced with a New Year dilemma, should he stay or should he go? With many contracts expiring at the end of 2006, the possibility of a couple of movers is likely, including Toyota’s Jarno Trulli. But, even if he says he wants to stay, could he be lured away by another offer?

Jarno’s 2005 performance has put the Italian on many of the teams shopping lists, with even Renault reporting to have an interest in rehiring him. But Toyota are keen to keep their golden boy, but have a rumoured 5 year contract with Ralf Schumacher and are interested in grabbing the services of Kimi Raikkonen who is expected to be a real championship contender this season. So for Toyota it’s a case of, too many drivers, and too little seats.

Whereas for Jarno, he can look pretty with all of these contracts flouting around him. "It's true that I've received offers and there are contracts with other teams," he added. "I need Toyota to let me know quite soon what they want to do."

But Jarno did state his first option would be Toyota, who he built up during 2005. "I'm a Toyota driver and my first option is to stay with this team," Trulli told the Tuttosport newspaper. "I'm happy here - we've improved a lot and I think we can still improve some more. We have all the right ingredients and resources to win so I have no reason to change."
