San Marino and Nurburgring dropped

Today the motor sport's governing body the FIA announced the 2007 Formula World Championship Calender where it seems the San Marino and Nurburgring Grand Prix's have been dropped.

The San Marino Grand Prix at Imola and the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring which have long been the second races in Italy and Gemany respectively have been dropped and the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa Francochamps which is regarded as one of the best circuits in Formula 1 has been re-instated.

A New addition to the calender is the Japanese which will be held at the Fuji circuit instead of the traditional Suzuka circuit. It is a bit of a home coming for Fuji as the track held the first two Formula 1 races in the country in 1976 and 1977.

The season opener moves back to its traditional slot in Melbourne, Australia. The season opener was held in Bahrain this season to avoid a clash with the commenwealth games which was being held in Australia at the time. Bahrain will be the third race in 2007 in between the Malaysia and Spanish Grand Prix's.

There will be five back-to-back races in 2007 with April featuring the back-to-back in Malaysia and Bahrain, June will feature the two North American races in Canada and America, the French and British races are back-to-back in July. Italy and Belgium will be the back-to-back races in September while the Chineese and Japanese grand prix's will the final back-to-back races in September/October.
