McLaren Score Double Podium

Spains reigning double world champion Fernando Alonso headed the McLaren pair to a double podium, Alonso finishing second to Kimi Räikkönen but the main talking point of the day was Lewis Hamilton’s excellent 3rd place.

Britain started 4th on the grid and by the first corner he moved up
to 3rd after an admirable pass around the outside of fast starting
Robert Kubica and when he entered the first corner he passed his vastly more
experienced Spanish team mate as well slotting centimetres away from the back
of Nick Heidfeld BMW.
The McLaren
team were able to put in fast enough lap times on their hard tyre rubber to
pass Nick Heidfeld who started on the faster soft rubber.
From their
McLaren went strength to strength never being more than 20 seconds behind
Ferrari at any stage (except pit stops). Up until the final pit stop Lewis
Hamilton led both McLaren drivers, leading the race on for about a good number
of laps.

After a disappointing season last year, this year looks to be like a small
revolution for McLaren, who could win the title easily this year.
