Pathetic. Wolves 1-1 Crewe

AWAY to Leicester City a week ago was one of the poorest performances from a Wolves side this season. Today, at home to bottom of the table Crewe Alexandra, Wolves put in one of the worst performances for years.

Wolves club captain Mark Kennedy today described the first half performance against Crewe as one of the worst 45 minutes he had ever known in his five years at the club. The former Irish International, who was subject to loud boo's by the Wolves supporters, equalised for Wolves in injury time at the end of a pathetic first half of football.

The fact that Crewe, rock bottom of the Championship, had scored more goals than Wolves this season was worrying enough, but the performance at the end of yet another draw against the leagues whipping boys is even more alarming.

Wolves boss Glenn Hoddle - who faced unwanted chants during the Leicester game - gave Hungarian International Denes Rosa his first start for the club in a midfield which also included Seol, Mark Kennedy and Paul Ince. Kenny Miller dropped to the bench whilst Carl Cort played on the right wing. New signing Thomasz Frankowski played up front on his own.

Words to describe the first half are hard to come by. There was once again no passion, no creativity and no desire. Crewe were by far the better side, scored one and should have scored more. Luke Rogers, one time of Shrewsbury Town, ran the defence ragged whilst the Wolves attack failed to deliver. So much so that Glenn Hoddle showed his man management skills by taking off Seol two minutes before half time, killing off whatever confidence the winger come striker had left.

Crewe took the lead in the fifth minute when a deep cross was missed by Lescott and found the feet of Jones who tapped in from close range. Wolves equalised right near the end with Mark Kennedy's shot finding the bottom corner.

Wolves took the game to Crewe in the second half, but Frankowski, Cort, Ganea and Miller all missed decent chances. A 5 on 2 break in the final minutes was only killed off by a decent Postma save near the end. A draw probably a fair result, the performance nowhere near fair on the fans.
