Honda Engine for Red Bull Racing in 2006?

It is thought that Red Bull Racing will be using Honda engines in 2006, rather than there current Cosworth engines which had a great performance in Melbourne. This has given concerns to many fans, and they are asking the question, Why fix something that is not broken?

Red Bull Racing has been linked with a contract for the season of 2006 to engine suppliers Honda. This would mean that the current deal with Cosworth, who’s engine supplies Red Bull Racing that amazing performance in Melbourne, would not be extended.

 

 

The current Cosworth engine contract costs approximately $20 million a year. The expected savings of moving the contract to Honda would be $10 million a year, which Christian Horner is keen to spend else where in the team.

 

If you log onto the message board, you will see that the majority of posters agree that this would not be in the best interest of the team. Honda has put restrictions on previous teams by requesting particular drivers for the team, and in the last couple of years the engine has not been the best engine for reliability or performance.
