What is more important?
Gives you wings?

This month Gordon looks at one of the issues the fans have to decide on this year. Is it more important for Red Bull Racing to gain points this year, or develop the car for following years?
This season is going to be an important one. The team has many decisions to make and must put a good and lasting impression on the fans. Though it’s not just the team who has to answer some questions, the fans do to.
Should the team concentrate on gaining points this year or should we look at developing the team and car in preparation for following seasons?
Of course we want the team to be successful this year. Which fan doesn’t want there team to see a percentage of success. Though we are in F1. F1 is such a unique and different sport that everything has to be different. You can’t create a successful F1 team overnight. No matter how big your wallet is!

Red Bull Racing has a fantastic car, a big budget and has three amazing drivers. If you had to ask someone who has not watched much F1 in the past, they may think that this is a solution for a successful season. How naive people can be! We have seen in the past, teams coming in with big money, buying the best and falling on there face. A F1 team takes time to develop. It’s like a good whisky which needs years to mature. You have to work at it to make it good. This year is not going to be an easy year for Red Bull Racing.
Although these are the potential problems, you cannot ignore the facts. We have a fast engine and the experience of David Coulthard in the racing team. The strengths of Mark Smith and Christian Horner in the management and the ever developing RB1. Put these together and add a bit of good fortune and the outcome is a competitive start to the season.
So what is the answer to the question? Is there an answer to the question? We all want to see the team do well this year, but is it more important to concentrate on building a strong team for the future? Why don’t you comment on our message boards?
