The Silverstone
circuit would see a major influx of Formula One teams as they all took the
opportunity to test at the British Grand Prix circuit. For the WilliamsF1
team Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz would share the driving duties. But the
morning session would be hampered by rain. It would improve in the afternoon
to allow the team to get in some dry running.
The team worked on their
preparations for the British Grand Prix with both drivers conducting tyre
tests for supplier Bridgestone. Alex would also complete some testing of new
front suspension setups. Alex would finish ahead of Nico with the drivers in
sixth and eighth positions. Alex would set a best time of 1m:22.216 while
Nico's time was a 1m:22.256.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented on the days testing by
saying:
“Today Nico and Alex were driving in damp and drizzly conditions in the
morning, but the weather dried out in the afternoon. Alex continued with
some front suspension geometry work, which we have been working on over the
last few tests, as well as some re-start procedures. Both drivers evaluated
a new tyre casing, while Nico also completed an initial tyre compound test
this afternoon which will lead to a more in depth test later in the week. In
conclusion, we have had a very productive day here at Silverstone.”
