After their
brief test at the Vallelunga circuit the WilliamsF1 team would return to the
Circuit de Catalunya, near Barcelona in Spain. On a day that would finish
bright and clear with a light wind Nico Rosberg and Narain Karthikeyan would
complete day one of a four day test.
Both
drivers would test various new items including aero and suspension parts, in
preparation for the next round of the championship at Imola. Both drivers
would complete ninety seven laps with Nico finishing one tenth ahead of
Narain. Nico would finish the day second in the times with Narain fourth.
Nico would focus on longer runs
in the afternoon. The only problem he was to have was in the morning with
some exhaust related problems.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Mike Condliffe commented on the days
testing. He said:
“Nico and Narain were on duty in Barcelona today for the first of a four day
test which will see all of the team's drivers on circuit at some stage this
week. Both drivers completed a busy testing schedule, running new aero parts
and suspension items in the morning, followed by tyre construction tests in
the afternoon. Mark will join Nico tomorrow for the second day of the test.”
