| As the BMW WilliamsF1 team
prepares for the final third of the 2002 season, Juan-Pablo Montoya is
aiming to achieve a second place finish in the drivers championship
behind Ferrari's Michael Schumacher.
But for Montoya to achieve this
goal he has to beat several other drivers, not the least his own team-mate
Ralf Schumacher. Currently Juan Pablo has forty points in the championship
with Ralf thirty five and Ferrari driver Rubens Barrichello thirty four.
Juan
Pablo rates Barrichello his his biggest threat for second place in the
championship. In comments that Juan Pablo made to the press in Colombia he
saw Rubens as his main rival and surprisingly he did not view his team-mate
Ralf Schumacher as been a threat.
In the past both Juan Pablo
and Ralf had engaged in words regarding each other and these words coming
from Juan Pablo could be viewed as another attempt by him to stir up Ralf.
Juan Pablo was quoted as saying: "I see Rubens as my main rival. He has the
better car and I will have to fight hard against him in these races. Then
there's Ralf, but he doesn't worry me."
As for the next race in Hungary this is a race that Juan Pablo does not list
amongst his favourites. He said: "This is a track I don't like. I don't feel
too good on it and I don't have great memories of it - in 2001 I came eighth
driving a car which had clear problems with balance."
As for his chances of winning one of the last few races Juan Pablo is
philosophical about this, adding: "I am not worried about winning one of
those races which remain. In motor racing nothing is certain; you win some,
you lose some. You get on pole and then nothing happens, so it's sometimes
better not to be first (on the grid).’ |
