Friday driver Alex Wurz would finish third in the second Friday practice at Bahrain. Mark and Nico were seventeenth and twenty first in a session that would see both Mark and Nico compleet just five laps each. It came down to being a ten minute Friday practice for the WilliamsF1 race drivers.

Bahrain GP Friday 2nd Practice

Both BMW WilliamsF1 drivers would finish the second Friday practice at Bahrain out of the top ten. Mark and Nico would be i seventeenth and twenty first positions. It would be Friday driver Alex Wurz who would give the WilliamsF1 team some encouragement with a third place of of 1m:31.764, to be 0.411 behind the quickest time.

WurzIn an interview for ITV Mark Webber spoke of how the team would only run a very limited number of laps on Friday. Mark said: ''I've come all this way and I'm going to drive for ten minutes.'' It was quite correct in his statement with both Nico and Mark only completing five laps over both Friday practice sessions.

The start of the second Friday practice session at Bahrain would see the Friday drivers take to the track first with WilliamsF1's Alex Wurz joined by Honda's Anthony Davidson, MF1's Robert Doornbos. We would also see the BMW Sauber of Robert Kubica, The Torro Rosso of Vitantonio Liuzzi, and Aguri F1's Yuji Ide take to the track. Marcus Winkelhock would also make an appearance early in the session.

With five minutes of the session run it would be BMW Sauber's Kubica fastest with a 1m:35.146. Alex would move into second with a 1m:35.370, along with Davidson's third place time of 1m:35.454. Liuzzi would move ahead of Alex with a
1m:35.349. But Alex would respond with a 1m:34.487 to move back into second. Toyota's Ralf Schumacher would move into seventh with a 1m:38.140. American Scott Speed was sixth with a 1m:37.188. Davidson was now in third with a
1m:35.221. McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen was now out on the track and he would quickly go fastest. He would set a time of 1m:33.577 to move to the top of the times.

Kubica was now in second with Alex third. Fourth would now be Montoya as the Colombian started his afternoon. His time was a 1m:34.276. Jani in the Scuderia Torro Rosso was now in seventh with a 1m:34.939. We had yet to see either
of the two race WilliamsF1 drivers take to the track. They were joined by the BMW Sauber's of Heidfeld and Villeneuve, both Honda drivers Button and Barrichello. The Aguri F1's of Sato and Ide were in fifteenth and sixteenth. Michael Schumacher was now out and his first lap would see him move into second with a time of 1m:33.937. Trulli was in eleventh with a 1m:36.082.

With just under forty minutes of the session remaining Davidson would go quickest with a time of 1m:32.9997. The second Ferrari of Massa was in seventh, 1m:34.715. We had yet to see either of the Renault's or Red Bulls take to
the track. Michael would improve his time with a 1m:33.904 but remained in third. The MR1's of Monteiro and Albers were in fourteenth and sixteenth. Again it would be a case of the Friday drivers completing a large number of laps
while the teams race drivers were limiting their track time.

Jani was now in eighth with a 1m:34.655. Kubica would set a new fastest first sector time, 29.9, to complete his lap with a time of 1m:33.244 to move into second. Both Renault's were now out on the track. Fisichella would move
into fifth with a time of 1m:33.932. With just over thirty minutes remaining Kubica would suffer a puncture and he would slowly return back to the pits. Fisichella was now third with a 1m:33.414 and team-mate Alonso was now fifth with a 1m:33.702. Fernando would set a new fastest first two sectors to finish with a time of 1m:32.538 to go fastest after just four laps recorded against him. Giancarlo would lower his time with a 1m:33.215 but remained in third.

WebberButton, Heidfeld and Klein were all out on the track. Alex was in seventh. Button's first lap would see him set a time of 1m:38.469 to be twentieth fastest. Both Renault's would return to their pits. Alex would respond to the quick
times by going second fastest with a time of 1m:32.759, setting the fastest third sector on this lap. The new FW28 was looking competitive on its first Grand Prix weekend. Button was now in fifth with a 1m:33.226. Honda team-mate Barrichello was also out on the track. Both Mark and Nico had come out yet with twenty minutes remaining in the session. Davidson was in third with a 1m:32.883 but he would be pushed down the order when Liuzzi jumped into second in the V10 Torro Rosso, with a time of 1m:32.793.

Heidfeld was now in tenth, while team-mate Villeneuve had yet to come out. The Red Bull of David Coulthard was now out on the track. Klein was in eleventh with a time of 1m:33.850. Raikkonen and Montoya were in eighth and ninth. But
it would go wrong for the Finn when his car would stop down an escape road and Kimi would get out. Coulthard was eighteenth with a 1m:35.017. Fifteen minutes remaining and still no sign of the WilliamsF1 cars. We would have Jarno
Trulli take to the escape road. Jacques Villeneuve would take to the track with ten minutes of the session remaining. Massa would move to the top of the times with a 1m:32.175, but Davidson would easily beat his time with a 1m:31.353. Nico and Mark were out on the track now setting their first times of the session.

Michael Schumacher was in second with a 1m:31.751. Mark and Nico were down in seventeenth and twenty first after competing just five laps each. At least the WilliamsF1 team could see that the new FW28 has speed with team-mate
Alex Wurz in third with a 1m:31.764, after setting the fastest first sector time. Both Ide and Winkelhock would spin their cars late in the session. Ide would stop his car out on the track as the session came to an end. The top ten
was Davidson, Michael Schumacher, Wurz, Massa, Alonso, Liuzzi, Doornbos, Button and Kubica. The McLaren's of Raikkonen and Montoya were in twelfth and thirteenth.
