The final day of the three day test for the WilliamsF1 team at the Valencia circuit would be run under mostly cloudy conditions with Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurz completing further development work on the teams new FW28.

RosbergNico would complete seventy eight laps with a best lap time of 1m:11.139. Wurz would complete one hundred and twenty laps with a best time of 1m:12.233. Despite windy conditions prevailing during the day both drivers would continue their reliability work with both the Cosworth engine and gearbox.

Nico would bring out a red flag during the day when he was to stop his car out on the track with a mechanical problem with his car.

WilliamsF1 Team Technical Director Sam Michael commented on the days testing. He said: “Today, Nico and Alex completed the team’s three day test in Valencia. Despite strong winds which lasted for most of the day, we still managed to continue putting mileage on the engine and gearbox. We also completed some tyre testing, as well as brake and general set-up work.”

Simon Corbyn, Head of F1 Race Engineering, Cosworth commented on the three days of testing from the point of view of the testing of the new Series 2 CA2006 engine. He said: “Nico successfully track tested the CA2006 Series 2 engine at this week’s Valencia test. Results were very encouraging, both in terms of on-track performance and engine mileage achieved. There are now only two tests left prior to the opening round in Bahrain and the race engines are already in build back in Northampton. It is therefore vital to make the best use of the remaining track time to approve the latest components prior to going racing. Both cars will run Series 2 engines at the Barcelona next week.”
