Williams concerned

After his early success in the Malaysian Grand Prix BMW WilliamsF1 driver Ralf Schumacher looked to be having a season which would see him cement his place in the team as their lead driver.

Frank Williams & Patrick HeadBut since then it has been his team-mate Juan Pablo Montoya who has been the centre interest, not only for his qualifying performances but also in his race performances. Even with the difficulties that the Williamsf1 team has been having Ralf seems to be struggling to match his less experienced team-mate.

This has not gone un-noticed by WilliamsF1 management with team boss Sir Frank Williams commenting on Ralf performances.

"We’d like him to be quicker, so you could say we’re concerned," Williams told the UK weekly, “Motorsport News”. ‘Some days he’s brilliant, some days he can’t put his hand on the button that makes the car perfect.

"I’d say he’s presently in a bit of a dip. Ralf’s performances are being coloured a bit by his equipment, but we need him to assert himself."

Ralf's drop off in performances is been compared to 2001 when he went through a similar phase in the later races of the season. Williams added: "It’s quite obvious that he’s under pressure form Juan Pablo, but that will spur him on.

"Personally I don’t care who wins races, we’re just desperate to win another one."
