This weekends French Grand Prix at Magny-Cours is another opportunity for the BMW WilliamsF1 team to take the fight to the Ferrari team.

There are several factors that will work in favour of the WilliamsF1 team at the French Grand Prix.

Ralf & Juan PabloFirstly the weather should be more conducive to the Michelin tyres and their performance. In recent testing the WilliamsF1 team has been testing a tyre that will provide a more consistent level of performance over the course of a race.

In respect of this Juan Pablo said: “As to plan, Michelin will provide us with new tyres in Magny-Cours which will remain constant over a distance.”

The introduction of the new aerodynamic package on the FW24 will provide performance gains on the Magny-Cours circuit, with its layout with fast corners. This new package has been welcomed by the drivers as a positive step forward in gaining additional performance from the FW24. The BMW P82 engine, despite several failures during the first half of the season, will still provide both Juan Pablo and Ralf with power to meet the demands of this circuit.

As for the drivers both are confident of achieving a good result this weekend.

“I think Magny-Cours is a good circuit and I expect that it will be a good race for us. The fact that this GP is the ‘home’ race of Michelin will make it all the more interesting”, said Juan Pablo.

Ralf added: “The new aerodynamic parts and the intensive testing we have carried out on traction and tyres have allowed us to make progress. We need to make one step at a time and we should see that happen again in Magny-Cours”.

For the BMW WilliamsF1 team the French Grand Prix should see the team achieve a result that will allow them to maintain their position ahead of McLaren in the constructors title and see both Juan Pablo and Ralf challenge Rubens Barrichello fro second in the drivers title.
