WilliamsF1 Monza Test Day Three

Tim Newton, WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager, commented on the days testing: "A straightforward day on the circuit at Monza with the FW24 - 03. We covered engine, aero work and general set-up for Magny-Cours. There was delay in the morning with several red flags on the track"

The testing was marred by a major accident involving Jaguar's James Courtney at the Ascari chicane. The suspension of the R3B collapsed at high speed. Courtney escaped without injuries, but was taken to hospital for some checks.

As for the Jaguar team the day was not a total disaster was Pedro de la Rosa was able to gather a lot of data regarding the R3B. he would finish the day in third position behind BAR's Olivier Panis. Panis would suffer an engine failure near the end of the day.

In fifth was Toyota's Mika Salo. He said: "We did some work on cooling systems, both related to the engine and the brakes. I continued Allan's programme from yesterday, studying how the car handles over the kerbs and working on mechanical set-up in this area, as well as general set-up work for the Monza Grand Prix."

For the BMW WilliamsF1 team testing will come to an end tomorrow.
