On a dry but
overcast day the BMW WilliamsF1 team continued their three day Silverstone
test with regular drivers Mark Webber and Nick Heidfeld sharing the testing
duties. The team focused on further preparations for the next series of
races. At
the end of the day Nick would complete ninety one laps, with a personal best
time of 1m:20.949. Mark would complete seventy five laps with a best time of
1m:21.099. Both drivers would spend their days focusing on tyre tests for
supplier Michelin, evaluation of setups for the race in Canada, as well as
further system testing involving practice race starts. This was aimed at the
further improvement of the FW27's traction control system. The team will
conclude testing on Friday, where Mark will be joined by team test driver
Nico Rosberg.
WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton commented: "Both drivers did tyre
tests for the race at Silverstone in July, testing the prime and option
compounds. They also evaluated some aero parts for Montreal as well as
testing brake and suspension set-up. We’re looking forward to some more good
weather tomorrow for our last day here.“ |
