According to his
manager Ann Neal, in an interview with Reuters, Mark Webber is now over his
rib injury and will race in Bahrain fully fit.
Neal
said: "He didn't test in Barcelona last week because he wanted a bit more
time and asked Williams if he could rest. But he's fine now, he's been doing
a lot of fitness over the weekend."
As for his injury Neal said that it came as a result of Mark not completing
his normal warm up exercises before getting in the car at Valencia which saw
him damage the cartilage. The fracture occurred later at Barcelona.
Neal explained: "It was basically a consequence of not warming up properly.
In regard to the test at Valencia Neal added: "We think the cartilage was
damaged then. He then went to test in Barcelona and the actual rib fractured
there. But he didn't have any (medical) tests or anything because he was so
busy."
As for having to cope with the race in Australia carrying this injury Neal
said: "He told Gary (Hartstein), the FIA doctor and he gave Mark a couple of
injections before the race. He (Webber) didn't want to make a fuss.
"There was never any case of him missing Australia, it's not that demanding
a circuit, but the big concern was Malaysia." |
