Fisichella warned over Webber collision

Yesterdays Malaysian Grand Prix would see the Renault of Giancarlo Fisichella collided with the BMW WilliamsF1 of Mark Webber, while Mark was making a overtaking move on the Italian. Both drivers would retire from the race as a result of the accident, where Fisichella's car would fly over the front of Mark's FW27 after sliding into it.

Both drivers would have their own versions of the collision.

Fisichella said: "I lost a bargeboard and lost a lot of downforce, a couple of seconds per lap. Mark caught me, he overtook me, then I overtook him again. I was ahead as we went in the corner, I saw him coming from the outside but there was no possibility for him to overtake me, there was no room. It is not my fault."

Webber saw things different. He would say: "His tyres were finished. I passed him fair and square. He came down the inside, there is zero grip there, he braked late and came into the side of me.

"I don't know how he was ever going to stop faster than me. The podium was there for me and it is really disappointing. But the fans enjoyed it and we will enjoy it again next time."

After reviewing the accident and hearing statements from both drivers stewards decided to place blame with the Renault driver and would warn Fisichella about his future driving conduct but took no further action.
