The 2005
Australian Grand Prix would see BMW WilliamsF1 driver Mark Webber finish in
an encouraging fifth. Mark's race would see him spend a great part of it
behind Red Bull's David Coulthard in a fight for third position.
But
after the second round of pit stops Mark would drop back from David to bring
his car home in a points scoring position. As for his reaction to the race
Mark and how Coulthard's passing of him at the first corner affected the
rest of his race, when interviewed by local television, Mark felt that it
had a major bearing on the rest of his race.
Mark said:
"Obviously I spent the whole race screwing my tyres behind him so he got me
at the first corner, I was very worried about my front tyre pressures into
the first corner but he did a good move, he got me, and I, of course, spent
the whole race behind him, so that was frustrating and, yeh, I didn't expect
to get fifth today, so that's not too bad, but always you want more. We got
done in the pits and it should have been a better result."
Mark was asked as to his thoughts on the tyres and how things went in the
race.
Mark added: "No question we learnt a lot about the tyres, and I think we
have to see what Michelin think as well, the balance, I would have liked, of
course, to have had more grip but everyone would have liked to have that to
the end, it wasn't that easy but overall we are underway. The team has done
a good job reliability wise. We will see where we are at the next race." |
