| The second
day of testing at the Monza circuit would see BMW WilliamsF1 test driver
Antonio Pizzonia set the fastest time, breaking the track record in the
process. Again the team was presented with sunny conditions as they worked
through their test programme as they prepared for the Italian Grand Prix. Antonio was again joined by Juan Pablo and both drivers would have trouble free days. Juan Pablo focused on a race simulation, while Antonio concentrated on tyre testing. Antonio set a time of 1m:20.027 while Juan Pablo set a best time of 1m:21.090.Both drivers continue on Friday, the final day of testing. WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: "Juan Pablo drove for 69 laps today, concentrating on starts, set-up work and aero comparisons. Antonio completed 76 laps working on tyre testing as well as the set-up and aero comparisons for next weekend’s race. Although we had a slow start to the day, our progress improved throughout the session. It has been quite a long day of work, with several red flags hampering running, but we still managed to successfully complete our programme. Both Juan Pablo and Antonio will be on track tomorrow for the last day of the test which will again contain a very intensive schedule.” |
