The opening practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix would see the BMW
WilliamsF1 drivers in sixth and sixteenth positions. Juan Pablo would
spin late in the session, but would come out in front of Pizzonia. The
WilliamsF1 team had a revised FW26 at their disposal with a new front
nose replacing the radical twin tusk version. Montoya would be using the
newer car, while Antonio was with the old one.
Juan Pablo would spin at Turn 13 stopping just short of the tyre barriers. He was able to continue and returned to the pits. Juan Pablo would put in a late quick lap to move himself up from fourteenth to sixth fastest. But he was 2.201 seconds off the quickest time. With less than ten minutes left to run McLaren's David Coulthard would jump into fourth with a time of 1m:23.100. team-mate Raikkonen would move past David with a time of 1m:23.024. Briscoe would move into the top ten ten with a 1m:24.108. Jaguar's Christian Klein would beach his car in the gravel ending his session. |
