| In an
announcement from the BMW WilliamsF1 team it is hoped that Ralf Schumacher
will be fit enough to return to racing as of the Hungarian Grand Prix in mid
August.
"I
spoke to him (this morning) and he's quite optimistic," said BMW motorsport
director Mario Theissen. "He wants to move faster than the doctors. He
thinks he can be back in the car at Hungary.
"I don't know if the doctors support that already but he'll have a medical
check next week and we'll know more then."
As for how things will go for Ralf and the team, bearing in mind his
departure to Toyota at the end of this season Theissen added: ""I'm really
looking forward to him being back in the car and we expect some really
strong races from him and some really strong performances in setting up the
car and the development of this year's car down to the final race."
Frank Williams was of the
opinion that the WilliamsF1 team needs Ralf back in the car as soon as
possible.
Williams said: "Without Ralf we're slipping down and down and down and if
you go from second to third in the constructor's championship is about 2.5
million dollars, and from third to fourth about 2.0 (million dollars) and
from fourth to fifth about 1.5 (million dollars), so... we need Ralf in the
car."
As yet there has been no
announcement as to who will replace Ralf in the German Grand Prix. |
