The second practice session would see the BMW WilliamsF1 drivers drop down
the order with Juan Pablo having to watch his team-mate Marc Gene finish
the session four places ahead of him. Juan Pablo was in eleventh while
Marc was in seventh.
Minardi's
Zolt Baumgartner first out to set a time, setting a very slow 1m:27.428.
He would quickly be beaten by a series of drivers including Heidfeld,
Davidson, and Jaguar's Mark Webber. But it would be McLaren's David
Coulthard who would move to the top of the times with a 1m:21.110.
Team-mate Kimi Raikkonen would go second with a 1m:21.233.
Early in the session Ferrari's Michael Schumacher would move into fourth
with
a time of 1m:21.781, while Renault's Fernando Alonso would go second
with a
time of 1m:21.200. Renault team-mate Jarno Trulli was down in tenth with
a
time of 1m:22.447. BMW WilliamsF1's Marc Gene would move into sixth.
After his quickest time from the first practice Rubens Barrichello would
set
an early time good enough for fifth, a 1m:21.480. A 1m:21.133 from
Alonso
would see him improve his time but not his second position. BAR's
Anthony
Davidson would move into fourth with a 1m:21.275. At the front Rubens
would
push Coulthard down the order by going fastest, a time of 1m:20.727.
Michael
Schumacher would improve with a 1m:20.021. Juan Pablo would also improve
his time with a 1m:20.682.
Jaguar's Mark Webber was up to eighth with a 1m:21.795, while
WilliamF1s'
Juan Pablo Montoya was in sixth with a 1m:21.307. But Juan Pablo would
improve on his time to move into second with a 1m:20.804. Both Montoya
and
Davidson were to put in very quick laps with Juan Pablo maintaining his
second place with a 1m:20.778 while Davidson was now third with a
1m:20.992.
Michael Schumacher would set the fastest time of the session so far, a
1m:20.615, but in general times were slower in this second session.
Christian
Klien would move all the way up to fifth with a 1m:21.073. With twenty
minutes of the session run Coulthard would set a very quick time,
1m:19.451,
to move back to the top of the times. But this would not be for long as
team-mate Raikkonen would set a time of 1:19.001 which was the fastest
record
so far today. Toyota's Olivier Panis was fifth with a 1m:20.489.
Sauber's Giancarlo Fisichella would continue to set impressive times
moving
into fourth with a 1m:20.021. Montoya would continue to improve his
times,
down to a 1m:20.276. Team-mate Marc Gene was down in fourteenth, a
1m:21.556. The Spaniard certainly sees to be making difficult going of
things in his second drive for the WilliamsF1 team. BAR's Jenson Button
would move into
second a 1m:19.401.
Button's team-mate Anthony Davidson would stop out on the circuit with a
technical problem. Michael Schumacher would jump into second with a
1m:19.300. he would improve on this with a 1m:19.300 but stay in second.
Juan
Pablo was down in eighth while Gene had dropped further to be in a
disappointing eighteenth. Like Juan Pablo Michael would improve his time
with
a 1:19.162. Both McLaren's certainly were quick with Raikkonen setting
the
fastest first sector time of the day.
Raikkonen would show his good form by setting the fastest time
1m:18.655.
Coulthard would also improve with a 1:19.287 to be in third. Trulli
would
move into the top six with a 1m:19.601 which would see him fifth. Sato
would
be next with a 1m:19.611. With less than ten minutes left Marc would
improve
dramatically as he jumped into fifth with a 1m:19.540. He would be in
front
of his team-mate Juan Pablo would despite improving with a 1:19.746
would
remain in eighth.
Barrichello would take fifth with a 1m:19.473. For the Jordan team they
would
see Timo Glock crash out with tyre failure sending him into the gravel.
At
the front the big sensation would be Fisichella moving into second with
a
1m:18.660 to be just 0.005 seconds away from being fastest. But for
Fisichella despite his efforts come Sunday he will lose ten places on
the grid after having had to replace his engine from the first practice
session. Team-mate Massa would finish in tenth with a 1m:19.676. |
