| BMW Motorsport Director
Gerhard Berger in comments on the BMW Motorsport web site has given an
indication that Jenson Button is unlikely to return to the BMW WilliamsF1
team.
Berger's
comments made it clear that he felt that the existing driver line-up is one
of the strongest and any change would not be a sensible move.
Berger said: "I don’t see any reason why we will have different drivers next
season."
"Under today's situation, (Button's return) is rather unlikely. Unless
something unforeseen happens, I would see us again with this line-up."
It has also been reported that the BMW WilliamsF1 team has extended the
contract of Juan Pablo Montoya until the end of 2004. It was reported in the
British publication “Motorsport News” that the WilliamsF1 team had
agreed on terms terms with Montoya that will see him with the team for the
next two-and-a-half years. It is expected that an announcement will be made
at the European Grand Prix.
With Montoya staying at
WilliamsF1 this supports Berger's comments regarding Jenson Button not
returning to the team, but staying with Renault. |
