| IT has
been reported that former WilliamsF1 driver Jacques Villeneuve could test
for WilliamsF1 in August or September. Team head Frank Williams told local
reporters at the Canadian Grand Prix, that a test was on the cards.
The test would be as part of the
teams search for a replacement for Juan Pablo Montoya who leaves the
WilliamsF1 team at the end of the 2004 season to go to McLaren.
Montreal's La Presse newspaper quoted Williams as saying: "We have a list of
potential drivers, Jacques is on the list.
"There has been no offer and no negotiations. We are not ready for that.
It's a long procedure and we are in no hurry. We will speed things up in
August.
"We will have to look at the drivers on our list, decide which we want to
test...and after that we will make our decision. It's a possibility that
Jacques will test...if we proceed with Jacques, it will happen in August or
September, something like that."
Williams also added that the WilliamsF1 team had approached Jacques to tell
him that the team was still interested, and that a meeting was held between
the parties.
William added: "He's as aggressive as ever. He was very fired up, very
determined to get back on the track. It was an interesting meeting." |
