Monaco GP Saturday 3rd Practice

Things would not improve for the BMW WilliamsF1 team with the opening Saturday practice still showing that neither Juan Pablo or Ralf has the necessary performance to do well here this weekend. Juan Pablo would finish the session win ninth with Ralf eleventh.

MontoyaAfter missing Friday, a tradition at Monaco, the teams returned to the track with the opening Saturday practice session. With the pit lane most drivers would complete their installation laps. With ten minutes of the session run it would be BAR's Takuma Sato and Jaguar's Christian Klien out for their timed laps.

We would have a air temp of 20°C with a track temp of 22°C. Webber would join Klein out on the track and we would have the two Jaguar's running together. Webber would go fastest with a 1m:20.725. For Webber, like Ralf Schumacher, he will lose ten places on the grid following his fire during Thursday practice which required an engine change. Jenson Button would take to the track.

Minardi's Bruni would hit the wall on the descent from the Casino, damaging the front left suspension. Zolt Baumgartner would also stop out on the track, joining his team-mate. With nearly twenty five minutes run neither the Ferraris, Sauber's, and Renault's had taken to the track.

Sato would complete a quick lap with a time of to go fastest. But now the track would see a flood of drivers come out with Juan Pablo quickly moving into the top spot with the quickest time. His time would be quickly beaten by both Alonso and Michael Schumacher. Alonso would close the gap to Michael but he would be passed by Rubens Barrichello.

With ten minutes left to run Felipe Massa would hit the curb too hard in the swimming pool area, spinning sideways and down the track, coming together with the barriers. Button would move into third 0.227 seconds behind Michael. Ralf and Juan Pablo would be down the order in eighth and tenth.

The times were still two seconds slower than those of Thursday, as the teams worked on their race setups. Michael would set complete another quick lap to be 0.225 seconds ahead at Rascasse, to finish with a time of 1m:15.787. Michael would improve this with a time of 1m:15.751. Mark Webber would move into third, while Rubens Barrichello would close the gap to Michael to be just 0.019 seconds behind.

With both Ferrari's at the top of the times they were the only drivers who were able to move into the 1m:15 sec bracket. Juan Pablo and Ralf would finish the session in ninth and eleventh positions, with Juan Pablo some 0.8 seconds behind the quickest time.
