For BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya the WilliamsF1 team is still miles away from goals they had set prior to the start of the season. Juan Pablo has urged the team to increase the pace of the development if they want to catch and pass their rivals Ferrari.

Miles away from goals

After Friday practice BMW WilliamsF1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya would be down in twelfth position as he found the going tough finding the right setup for his FW26. Juan Pablo would comment on the day by saying " it’s clear that there is still some work to do."

Montoya with Jeff GordanPrior to the commencement of the opening Friday practice Juan Pablo would also comment about the situation within the BMW WilliamsF1 that would see them struggle in the first four races against their rivals Ferrari, who would win all four races.

For Juan Pablo the frustration of this situation was apparent in his comments regarding the pace of development with the WilliamsF1 team. Juan Pablo indicated that the team is no where near its goals that they had set prior to the seasons start.

Juan Pablo said: "This year the team set up quite high goals and we are miles away. Maybe by the end of the season we will be quite strong but we need something sooner rather than later. At the moment we have nothing new and radical coming in terms of development. We are just doing little bits, bit by bit. We are improving, but the Ferrari just looks incredible."

But not only has the WilliamsF1 team having to cope with the pace of the Ferrari but they are also having to deal with a BAR team that is gaining momentum and also challenging WilliamsF1.

Juan Pablo added: "It is frustrating in some ways and not frustrating in others. It is frustrating for the wins but the team is still doing a good job and we are still up there taking podiums. If you look at the first three races we were quicker than BAR, but they could come strong here."
