Silverstone Test 29:04:2004 Day Three

As the BMW WilliamsF1 team attempted to prepare for the next race in Spain their test programme a Silverstone was again hindered by further wet weather at the circuit. Such was the extent of the rain that the session was red flagged because of excessive water on the track.

Not that it counted for much but WilliamsF1 test driver Antonio Pizzonia would head the times set during the day. Next came team-mate Ralf Schumacher.

With the heavy rain time was taken to perform wet weather tyre tests with both drivers working through various compounds and wet weather tyres for Michelin.

Antonio would complete twenty eight laps, with a fastest lap time of 1m:32.449. Ralf would only complete twelve laps, posting a best time of 1m:33.236.

WilliamsF1 Test Team Manager Tim Newton said: "Ralf and Antonio were on testing duty for the team today, with both drivers once again topping the time sheets. With saturated conditions once again disturbing the running at the Northamptonshire track, Ralf and Antonio continued as best they could with the scheduled programme, concentrating on systems checks, set-ups and tyre exploration work."
