| Valencia Test 10:03:2004 Day One of Three | |
| After the
running of the 2004 Australian Grand Prix the BMW WilliamsF1 team were back
testing with test driver Marc Gene. Marc was at the "Circuit de la Comunitat
Valencia Ricardo Tormo" using an FW26, in preparation for the Malaysian
Grand Prix. After heavy rain the night before the team was presented with a damp track in the morning. But in the afternoon the showers returned to the circuit seeing many drivers using wet weather tyres. Based on the history of wet weather at Malaysia this was an ideal time to do wet tyre testing. Marc's day focused on the testing of various aerodynamic and mechanical set-ups of the FW26. He would finish the day with a best lap time of 1m:12.098. WilliamsF1 Chief Operations Engineer Sam Michael commented on the days testing. He said: "The weather was fairly mixed today, so we took the opportunity to run some wet set-ups and test wet tyres. We’re anticipating better weather tomorrow which will allow us to return to our dry test programme in preparation for Malaysia." Marc will be the sole driver present on the second day of tetsing. |
