Ralf to Renault?

| The future
of Ralf Schumacher took another turn with his manager, Willi Weber, saying
that there was every chance that he would be driving for the Renault team
from 2005. Presumably this move is based on a failure of Ralf in securing an
extension of his contract with WilliamsF1. Weber was quoted as saying in the German daily Bild: "We've reached an agreement with (Renault) team chief Flavio Briatore on all major issues. Finalising a contract is merely a formality." Ralf Schumacher responded to these reports by saying in the same publication: "There will be a decision in the next few days. We shall see." But just as quickly as the reports of Ralf's impending move to Renault had surfaced that Renault's managing director Flavio Briatore responded by admitting that he had held talks with Weber, but denied that these discussions involved Ralf moving to the French team. Briatore said: "I saw Willi Weber in Melbourne, and we certainly talked to each other - we are friends, so that is perfectly normal. However, at no time did we discuss, or have we discussed, a possible future for Ralf Schumacher in a Renault car." As to where Ralf's future will be is still the centre of much speculation. It would appear that some of this speculation may be fed along by such reports of Ralf moving to Renault, hoping to see Frank Williams resign Ralf quickly rather than see him leave. |
