Ralf clarifies his remarks

After reports seeming to indicate that Ralf Schumacher was prepared to walk away from the BMW WilliamsF1 team, after the difficulties in finalising his contract between himself and the WilliamsF1 team, Ralf is now attempting to clarify his remarks.

The comments made by Ralf in an interview in the Bild am Sonntag newspaper could have been taken as a threat directed at the WilliamsF1 team. Ralf has now sated that this was not his intention.

Ralf explained his previous comments by saying: "All I wanted to do was to give an idea of what was going on and to counter press reports that implied that I was only interested in money."

"All of that has absolutely nothing to do with what we are working for at the moment. Everyone's focus is only on the start of the season and the first race in which we want to achieve maximum success. Everything else will just work itself out, I'm sure."

As to whether Ralf continues with the BMW WilliamsF1 team beyond 2004 only time will tell. If Ralf becomes a serious contender for the title this may change the position of both parties. If he was to win the drivers title well that would put a totally different complexion of the matter of what Ralf is worth.
